September 2020 Feminist Book Club Unboxing

The theme for September's box was:

LATINX VOICES

The book featured this month was Hurricane Season by Fernanda Melchor:

"The Witch is dead. And the discovery of her corpse—by a group of children playing near the irrigation canals—propels the whole village into an investigation of how and why this murder occurred. Rumors and suspicions spread. As the novel unfolds in a dazzling linguistic torrent, with each unreliable narrator lingering on new details, new acts of depravity or brutality, Melchor extracts some tiny shred of humanity from these characters that most would write off as utterly irredeemable, forming a lasting portrait of a damned Mexican village."

I am really excited about this book! It's FBC's first translated book plus it sounds like just the creepy, haunting read that I want heading into spooky season. Other items featured in this month's box:

I LOVE this month's box! Not only is the tea amazing, but I already wore the bracelet to an interview to give me a badass boost of confidence. And my fiancée has already taken off with the lip brilliance and it looks amazing on her. Also, every box comes with a little handwritten note from the founder Renee and it's just a really sweet touch. And how about that new box design?! (Teeny tiny humble brag: during my day job as a graphic designer I got to work with the founder in designing this new box! I'm really super proud of it and it furthered my knowledge that Renee is an amazing person.)

Every month, Feminist Book Club gives back a portion of its proceeds to a charity. The featured charity for September is the Mujeristas Collective.

Looking forward, The Feminist Book Club's October's theme is going to be: THRILLER

FBC has a referral program for members, so if anyone would like $10 off their order of $40 or more (for reference, the box is $49 a month), send me a message and I'll get you a link!
